How to clean a mesh?

Filed under: Uncategorized — ipeerbhai @ 4:16 am

Hi All,

I’ve got an STL file I generated from openScad.  It’s a cube with holes in it.  I want to convert the thing to a STEP file using FreeCad.  I can do this, but I get terrible quality.  Seems the mesh has errors, so when converted to a solid, the solid has surface deformations.

My ultimate goal is to be able to draw in OpenSCAD, get solids in a standard format, and generate proper mechanical drawings.  I’m good with OpenSCAD — I’d have a huge learning curve with other cad tools.  But, OpenSCAD puts out non-clean meshes.

Here’s an example of the problem — it’s suppose to be a “cube” with holes, but instead, it’s a cube with surface divots and holes.  any idea how to clean it up?
